Returning to a Near and Responsive Lord

Jummah Mubarak, sis!

Alhamdulillah, we’ve entered the second week of Ramadan. By now, your body has begun adjusting to the fast — using energy more efficiently, stabilizing, and even sharpening your mental clarity. What may have felt physically challenging at first is slowly transforming into strength, focus, and discipline.

As your body moves through this important biological reset, your heart and soul are also being refined. Ramadan is not just abstaining — it’s a full spiritual recalibration. Take a quiet moment to reflect on where you are spiritually right now and where you truly want to be. What habits are you trying to release? What qualities are you asking Allah to strengthen within you?

This is a pivotal time. Your duas carry weight in this month. Ask for what you need. Ask for what you deeply desire. Ask for what feels impossible. Ramadan is a month of noor — of light upon light — and a month in which duas are answered. Don’t hold back in your conversations with Allah.

May this week bring you clarity, softness of heart, and abundant barakah.

A beautiful and very relevant ayah for this stage of Ramadan is:

“And when My servants ask you concerning Me — indeed I am near. I respond to the call of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me and believe in Me that they may be rightly guided.”
— Qur'an 2:186

Allah reminds us that He is near and that He responds when we call upon Him. This ayah comes right in the middle of the passages about fasting, showing us that Ramadan is not just about abstaining from eating — it’s about strengthening our connection with Him. As your body adjusts to fasting and your mind feels clearer, this “Ramadan reset” creates space in your heart. With fewer distractions, you become more aware of your spiritual state and more intentional in your duas. The ayah reassures you that this is the perfect time to ask, to reflect, and to realign. Just as your body is resetting physically, your heart is resetting spiritually — returning to closeness with Allah, trust in His response, and confidence that He hears every sincere call.
