You are a Powerhouse
Jummah Mubarak, sis! Allah has created life so divinely, even the unseen carries meaning. Your body moves by energy produced in the mitochondria, the powerhouse of your cells, carrying its own DNA passed only from your mother. You can see that same quiet power in the women before you, your mother, grandmothers, and ancestors, women who persevered, protected their boundaries, and made things happen despite the odds. Their resilience, discipline, and faith have shaped you more than you may have realized, and by Allah’s mercy, that energy lives on in you.
Like mitochondria, you carry your own message while working in harmony with the world around you, flexible yet discerning about what you allow into your space. Choosing a nontraditional path does not mean you are wrong, it means you are answering your own calling. Allah places you exactly where you need to be, even when it does not make sense yet. You are not meant to do this alone, but to draw strength from those before you and to support others as you grow spiritually and intellectually. So sis, as you move through your journey, remember you are a powerhouse too. What message will you carry forward?
“And Allah created you from dust, then from a drop, then He made you into pairs. No female conceives nor gives birth except with His knowledge. And no one’s life is prolonged or shortened except that it is written in a Record. Indeed, that for Allah is easy.”
(Surah Fatir 35:11)
Surah Fatir 35:11 is a powerful reminder of how intentional and precise Allah’s creation is, especially when it comes to lineage, womanhood, and what is carried from one generation to the next.
When Allah says He created you from dust, then from a drop, He is grounding human existence in humility while also highlighting divine design. Nothing about you is accidental. Every trait, ability, and capacity you carry began long before you took your first breath. Then Allah mentions that He made you into pairs, pointing to balance, complementarity, and continuity. Life is meant to be sustained, carried forward, and nurtured through connection.
The ayah then centers women in a profound way. Allah says that no female conceives or gives birth except with His knowledge. This is not just about pregnancy, but about what is entrusted to women. Every child, every lineage, every strength passed down is known by Allah before it ever appears in the world. It affirms that what mothers carry, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and even historically, is under divine awareness and protection.
When Allah says no life is prolonged or shortened except that it is written in a Record, He is reminding you that timing is sacred. Your journey, your detours, your nontraditional path, and even the pressures you face are all accounted for. Nothing arrived early or late. Nothing was missed. Nothing was wasted.
The ayah ends by saying that this is easy for Allah. What feels heavy, complex, or overwhelming to you is effortless for Him. Generations of resilience, survival, faith, and strength flowing through you is not a burden Allah struggles to sustain. It is something He authored with ease.
So when you question how you are still standing, still moving, still producing energy despite everything, this ayah answers you. You are carrying what Allah placed in you, written long before you arrived, and He is fully aware of every step you take.
