You Come From a Legacy of Leaders

A successful businesswoman, the first to believe, and a source of strength for the Prophet in his hardest moments.

Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (RA)

Jummah Mubarak, sis. Long before "girlboss" was a hashtag, Muslim women were building businesses, leading households, and shaping entire communities. Khadijah RA ran her own trade caravans across regions, employed men to work under her direction, and was known throughout Makkah for her integrity before she was known for anything else. When the moment came that changed everything, it was her strength the Prophet ﷺ leaned on. Leadership was never foreign to Muslim women. We come from it — it's in the blueprint.

So if you've ever felt like you have to shrink your ambition to be seen as a "good" Muslim woman, or apologize for taking up space in rooms that weren't built with you in mind — remember whose example you're actually following.

Questions to sit with this Jummah:

  • Where in my life have I shrunk to make others comfortable?

  • What would I pursue if I fully believed leadership was already part of my legacy?

  • Am I leading with Khadijah's generosity, or just her ambition?

A few ways to grow this week:

  • Say yes to one opportunity you've been talking yourself out of.

  • Use whatever resources you have — time, money, knowledge — to support someone else's mission, the way Khadijah RA supported the Prophet ﷺ.

  • Lead one room this week — a meeting, your home, a conversation — with full conviction, not half-apology.

May you walk into every room this Friday remembering whose legacy you carry. Ameen
