Every Resource Has Purpose
Jummah Mubarak, sis! As you begin planting your seeds for the year ahead, take a moment to reflect on how you intend to spend it. Time, energy, and resources do not grow on their own. They require intention, direction, and discipline. If we do not plan, we end up planning to fail, and that is a hard but honest truth many people learn too late.
Look at how ecosystems work. Nothing is wasted. Every resource has a purpose, and every element is allocated where it is needed to sustain growth and balance. There is strategy in nature, even in its quiet moments. In the same way, our lives function best when we are intentional with what we have been given.
So the question becomes, how are you managing your money? Is it being directed with purpose, or is it being consumed without thought? Are your resources aligned with your goals, your values, and the future you are trying to build, or are they working against you? What you nurture consistently is what will ultimately grow.
“And do not spend wastefully. Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful.”
- Surah Al-Isra 17:26–27
“O you who believe, fear Allah. And let every soul look to what it has sent forth for tomorrow.”
- Surah Al-Hashr 59:18
Allah reminds us in the Surah Al-Hashr, “O you who believe, fear Allah. And let every soul look to what it has sent forth for tomorrow.” This ayah is a direct call to intentional living. It teaches us that accountability is not only about what we do in the moment, but about what we are preparing for the future. Every action, every decision, and every dollar spent is something we are sending forward.
Similarly, Allah warns us against wastefulness when He says, “And do not spend wastefully. Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils.” This is not just about extravagance, but about misuse. Spending without purpose, planning, or awareness disconnects us from gratitude and responsibility. When wealth is treated carelessly, it loses its ability to bring barakah.
Together, these ayat remind us that our resources are an amanah. Just as nothing in creation is random or wasted, our money, time, and energy are meant to be managed with wisdom. Planning is not a lack of trust in Allah. It is a form of it. We tie our camel, set our intentions, and move with clarity, knowing that Allah places barakah in what is handled with care, foresight, and sincerity.
