Plant It Anyway

Jummah Mubarak sis,

The Prophet ﷺ said: “If the Hour is established and one of you has a sapling in his hand, then if he is able to plant it before the Hour is established, let him plant it.”
(Musnad Ahmad and al-Adab al-Mufrad, authenticated by al-Albani)

Even at the very end of the world, the Prophet ﷺ told us to keep planting.

On Wednesday we asked you to plant one hidden seed, a good deed just between you and Allah. Did you do it? If you did, alhamdulillah. That seed is safe with Him, and no one can dig it up.

Think about what this hadith is really teaching us. A person planting a sapling as the world ends will never sit in its shade or eat its fruit. But the Prophet ﷺ still says to plant it. Our job was never to control the harvest. Our job is to plant.

So many of us hold back from doing good because we can’t see the result. We think we’re too busy, it’s too small, or it won’t change anything. But the seed doesn’t need you to see it grow. It just needs you to put it in the ground.

This Jummah, plant one more. Make du’a for a sister by name, without telling her. Give a little sadaqah, even a few dollars. Then let it go, and let Allah take care of the rest.

Read Al-Kahf, send salawat on the Prophet ﷺ, and make du’a in that blessed last hour before Maghrib.
