Plant the Seed
Jummah Mubarak, sis! As we enter the blessed month of Rajab, we are reminded that what we plant now will, by Allah’s will, bear fruit in its time.
Think of how a farmer tends to seeds after planting them. There is no expectation of an instant harvest. Instead, there is patience, care, and trust. The farmer checks the water, tends to the soil, and ensures the right amount of sunlight, knowing that growth is happening beneath the surface even when it cannot yet be seen.
Our good deeds are much the same. When you give, serve, or strive for the sake of Allah, do not measure their worth by immediate results or recognition. The same is true for your duʿas. Have faith that they are heard, even if the answer does not come right away or in the form you expect.
Trust that Allah, in His perfect wisdom, will allow those seeds to grow and bring forth fruit at the time that is best for you. Your role is to plant, nurture, and remain patient.
“Do you not see how Allah presents an example? A good word is like a good tree, whose root is firm and whose branches are in the sky. It gives its fruit at all times, by permission of its Lord.”
- Surah Al-Ibrahim 14:24–25
This ayah offers a powerful reminder about patience, sincerity, and trust in Allah’s process.
When Allah compares a good word to a good tree, He is teaching us that what is rooted in faith does not need to be rushed. A tree with firm roots grows steadily and quietly. Its strength is not always visible at first, but it is grounded deep beneath the surface. In the same way, deeds done with sincerity, kind words spoken for the sake of Allah, and duʿas made with a present heart all take root even when we cannot immediately see their impact.
The branches reaching toward the sky remind us that our efforts are never confined to the moment we make them. They rise, expand, and are elevated by Allah. And when Allah says the tree “gives its fruit at all times, by permission of its Lord,” it teaches us that benefit comes when and how Allah wills, not according to our timelines or expectations.
This ayah reassures us that nothing done for Allah is wasted. Every sincere action and every heartfelt duʿa is growing in ways we may not yet understand. Our responsibility is to keep our roots firm through faith, patience, and consistency, trusting that Allah will allow the fruit to appear at the perfect time.
