Less Than 6 Months Until Ramadan

Jummah Mubarak, sis! Can you believe Ramadan is now less than six months away? Soon, we’ll be blessed with the opportunity to embark once again on that beautiful journey of both biological and spiritual renewal. Ramadan is like a divine reset button for our bodies, minds, and souls.

Think about it. Whenever we’re anticipating a big event in life, there’s usually some form of preparation involved. For example, if someone is training for a marathon, they don’t just show up on race day; they spend months conditioning their body, adjusting their diet, and fine-tuning their endurance. Similarly, when preparing for midterm or final exams, students don’t just walk into the exam hall unprepared—they go through quizzes, practice tests, study sessions, and revisions to get ready for the real challenge.

These are things we willingly commit to and understand require preparation. Yet, when it comes to Ramadan—arguably one of the greatest and most transformative events in our spiritual lives—we’re not given a formal “training schedule” or mandatory preparation plan. No one is going to assign us homework or quizzes to get us ready. It’s something we must consciously take on ourselves.

So if we were to work backwards from Ramadan, asking ourselves how best to prepare, what would that look like? What spiritual “training” should we start engaging in now so that by the time Ramadan arrives, we’re not just stumbling into it, but entering it with strength, clarity, and readiness?


O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you, that you may become righteous (taqwa)."
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:183)

This verse reminds us that the purpose of fasting in Ramadan is to build taqwa—God-consciousness. Just as athletes train to strengthen their bodies or students prepare to sharpen their minds, we prepare spiritually so that when Ramadan arrives, our fasting isn’t just about hunger and thirst, but about achieving closeness to Allah.
