Solitude Entering and Exiting
Jummah Mubarak, sis! You know, some of us travel through this world surrounded by people, rarely finding a moment alone. And others walk their path mostly in solitude, learning to rely on their own strength and their connection with Allah. But no matter which one of us we are, one truth remains unshaken: we entered this world alone and we will leave it alone.
And because of that, it is not selfish to build for yourself in this world and in the next. It is part of our responsibility. We have to think about the legacy we are shaping right now. What will we leave behind? What Sadaqah Jariyah will continue to benefit us after we have returned to our Creator? What tools, knowledge, or acts of kindness will we pass on to help others succeed long after we are gone?
Each of us leaves a mark on this world, whether small or great. What matters is being intentional, reflecting on what that mark will look like, what it will mean, and how it will echo beyond our time here.
“And you have certainly come to Us alone, just as We created you the first time…”
— Surah Al-An‘am (6:94)
Think of this as a reminder of profound clarity. That everything we experience in this world, the struggles, the celebrations, the heartbreak, the victories, are all part of a temporary design.
This life is filled with distractions that can easily pull the heart in different directions. At times it feels overwhelming, and at other times beautiful and calm, but either way it remains fleeting. It is not the final destination.
This powerful ayah reminds us of one of the most profound realities of life: the journey begins alone and it ends alone. When Allah brought us into this world, we entered with nothing, no wealth, no status, no companions, no achievements. And when our time here comes to an end, we will return to Him in the very same state, carrying nothing except our deeds.
It teaches us that the things we chase in this dunya, the possessions we gather, the people we walk with, and the titles we hold will not follow us into the grave. What will remain with us, what will stand beside us when we face our Lord, are the actions we performed and the sincerity behind them.
This ayah calls us to reflect on our purpose. It reminds us that preparing for our akhirah is not selfish but necessary, because ultimately we stand before Allah alone, accountable only for what we ourselves have done. It encourages us to invest in efforts that outlive our lifetime, our Sadaqah Jariyah, our legacy of goodness, the knowledge we shared, and the hearts we impacted.
Through these words, Allah shifts our focus from the temporary to the eternal. Everything else will be left behind, but our deeds will accompany us into the next life.
